Reporting a bug

The more of this you can include, the faster we can repro and fix.

  • DEVICE Model and manufacturer (e.g. Pixel 8, iPhone 15 Pro).
  • OS Android version (e.g. Android 14) or iOS version (e.g. iOS 17).
  • APP Byson version (Settings → About).
  • STEPS Short reproduction steps - what you tapped, in order.
  • EXPECTED What you expected to happen.
  • ACTUAL What actually happened.
  • SCREENSHOT Optional but very helpful. Crop anything sensitive.
SECURITY · PRIVACY NOTE Never send real database passwords, full connection strings, API keys, TLS certificates, or private SSH keys when reporting an issue. We don’t need them to help - reproduction steps and the kind of failure you saw are enough. If a screenshot accidentally includes a secret, please rotate it and resend the report without it.

Does Byson work offline?

The app opens offline; queries naturally require a network path to your MongoDB cluster. AI features require a path to your provider.

Q2

Where is my API key stored?

Encrypted at rest on your device only - the Android Keystore on Android, the iOS Keychain on iOS. It is never displayed in plaintext after saving.

Q3

How is billing handled?

Android subscriptions are managed through Google Play; iOS subscriptions through the App Store. Both are handled with RevenueCat. AI provider costs are billed separately by your chosen provider.

How do I cancel Pro?

On Android: Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions. On iOS: Settings → your name → Subscriptions.

Which privacy policy applies to me?

Android users should read the Android Privacy Policy. iOS users should read the iOS Privacy Policy.

Q6

What TLS does iOS support?

iOS supports system-CA TLS. It does not support custom CA or X.509 client certificate TLS. SSH tunneling is supported where included in the app.

Q7

Will AI ever auto-run a destructive query?

No. AI features produce drafts only. Stages that write data ($out, $merge) or fan out heavily (unindexed $lookup) raise warnings, and nothing executes until you explicitly press Run. Raw full documents are not sent to AI by default.
